Unfortunately, that is typically not the case in Family Court. Clients and their attorneys spend a good deal of time and energy on the past, recent and distant.
There is no better evidence for what happened in the past then what we all chronicle on social media sites and you know where I’m going with this: Facebook.
Pictures, check-ins, tags, likes, posts, messages, and it goes on, and on, and on…. Whether you are going through a divorce, a custody dispute, juvenile matter, or DCYF case it ALL comes in and rarely, if ever, have I seen it help.
It’s easy and tempting to let a rant loose or post a pic of you and your new found love, but it’s a BAD idea. Despite the precautions you may have taken with your privacy settings or blocking certain individuals, IT IS NOT PRIVATE. That content will find a way into exactly the wrong hands and what felt so right will suddenly be used against you as so wrong.
