J. Russell Jackson is a member of State and Federal Bars for the State of Rhode Island and is admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court. He received his Juris Doctor Degree from the Suffolk University Law School, and his Bachelors Degrees in History and Political Science from the University of Rhode Island.
Mr. Jackson has extensive experience in the field of personal injury, auto liability and insurance law, serving for five years as a Claims and Litigation Specialist for Progressive Insurance prior to opening his own law practice in 2000. Currently Mr. Jackson represents clients and provides services in all facets of real estate law, as well as the areas of personal injury, landlord-tenant, bankruptcy, business, estate planning, domestic relations, probate, IRS tax resolution, and general civil litigation.
Attorney Jackson has been an adjunct faculty member of the University of Rhode Island Political Science Department, has served as a guest lecturer with the Learning Connection on the subject of Landlord-Tenant Law, and has instructed the course, “Examining and Resolving Title Issues in Rhode Island” through the continuing legal education series of the National Business Institute.
In addition to his professional and academic activities, Mr. Jackson has a long history of public service to the community. Together with his involvement in various charitable and volunteer organizations, he has served as past Chairman of the City of Newport Planning Board, and as a member of the 2000-2001 Newport Charter Review Commission.
Presently, Mr. Jackson serves as a member of the Rhode Island General Assembly, Representing House District 73, Newport & Middletown, and is also the presiding Municipal Court Judge for the City of Newport.
